Maps are an essential part of game balance because they define the tactical options available to each team. We strive to make maps as fair and even as possible without making them all symmetrical and dull. Update 18.1 features a few changes in how some popular maps look and work - here's a quick rundown of the changes.
Europe: Streets
This is one of the oldest Gods of Boom maps, and for some time now, players had trouble instantly understanding which side of the map they spawned on. We've made some changes that make Europe: Streets a real visual treat, and we've also made some adjustments to the objects on the map, making it more clear and straightforward for players of all levels.
Here’s the list of changes for the map, marked with green:
- We rotated the car to give the red team more control on their side
- We added cover for the South spawn points on both sides and more cover on the South side of the map in general
Farm
One of the teams had higher cover objects on their side, which led to a slight disbalance. Now the cover is on the same level for all sides, which should solve the problem. Of course, we've also made some visual improvements. A picture's worth a thousand words (a moving picture - worth a million).
Old Factory
Just like with Farm, we found out that slight differences in cover may sometimes give slight advantages to one team over the other. So we're making everything standard and fair to the last pixel. Makeover improvements included, as you can see in the video above.
These are the maps affected in this update. We'll keep you in the loop on the progress of updating our other maps, so stay tuned!
