BACK TO NEWS

It all started in the spring of 2018, when Game Insight and ESL organized a series of online and offline events with cash prizes. The participants were from two regions: North America and Europe. The first part of the season was online: teams competed on weekends in GO4 Guns of Boom tournaments, earning qualifying points and cash prizes. Thus, the best teams in each region who would meet in the offline competitions were determined. The first event, the EU Invitational, was held in the Polish city of Katowice for the best players from Europe, and the season finale, with a $120,000 main prize, took place in Los Angeles. In total, during Season One participants walked home with $200,000 in prize money.

At the end of Season One, the two best teams, Black Bulls and Back to Back, signed contracts with professional eSports organizations, changing their names to Lazarus and Noble, respectively. Not surprisingly, these legendary lineups will meet again in the opening of the Gods of Boom league for Season Two.

Also, Season One helped set the list of rules for tournament matches. The full list is available on the ESL website, but the most important ones are:

  • All tournaments are played in Pro Play mode: health and armor of all players are capped at level 22, weapons are balanced to their level 22 equivalent.

  • Players have access to the entire arsenal and all equipment, regardless of what items they have purchased in the game, so all participants are equal on the battleground.

  • In combat, you can use any equipment freely, but it is subject to certain restrictions.

  • Battles take place in three modes, which allows players to use different tactics.

Season Two, which began with online tournaments in the winter of 2019, is now in full swing. This time, $500,000 is at stake, and competitors from 4 regions are fighting for it: Europe, North America, South America, and Southeast Asia (including India and Australia). The first offline event of Season Two will be the match between Lazarus and Noble. It will take place on March 1, 2019.
